Darjeeling Sandakphu Trek

Day 01/ Delhi/ Kolkata-Arrival

Arrive at Delhi/ Kolkata international airport, you will be received by our representative and would be further assisted & transferred to your hotel. Rest of the time is kept free to recover from jetlag. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 02/ Delhi/ Kolkata-Bagdogra-Darjeeling

In the morning, you would be transferred to the airport to board the flight to Bagdogra. On arrival at Bagdogra airport, you will be assisted and transferred to Darjeeling (94 km approx.). Finally arrive at Darjeeling, check in to the hotel. Rest of the time is kept free at leisure. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 03/ Darjeeling

Today take a guided tour of Darjeeling visiting Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Tibetan Refugee Self Help Centre, Everest Museum and Padmaja Naidu Zoological Park. Padma Naidu Zoological Park is very famous for the person wish to see Snow Leopard and Red Panda. In the afternoon, enjoy a toy train ride to Ghoom railway station. Ghoom is considered as one of the highest railway stations of the world. Later take a tour of visit Goom Monastery. Goom Monastery has the Maitrya Buddha’s statue. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 04/ Darjeeling-Manebhanjang-Tonglu

Drive in the early morning from Darjeeling to Manebhanjang.  Manebhanjang is a tiny village which is mainly populated by Buddhist Sherpas. From Manebhanjang one can see the trekking route that is an overwhelming. The trek will start from Manebhanjang to Tonglu. Our first camp site would be at Tonglu which is located on an altitude of 3070 meters. Tonglu is 11 kms away from Manebhanjang – this route covers dense forests and hillsides along with wild flower & the breathtaking views of the unparalleled Kangchenzunga Mountains and the neighbouring peaks of Kangchenzunga range.

Day 05/ Tonglu-Gairibas-Kalipokhari

Today start the trekking from Tonglu up to Gairibas on a height of 2621 meters. This trek will take 03 hrs and the distance between Tonglu and Gairibas is about 09 kms. The trek goes by bamboo glades and farmlands having charming small villages of the welcoming villagers. From Gairibas to Kalipokhari (3170 meters) is the continuous ascend passing by the rhododendron jungle. The distance from Gairibas to Kalipokhari is around 6 Kms and the same will take 3 hours. Stay overnight at Kalipokhari.

Day 06/ Kalipokhari-Sandakphu

In the morning trek to Sandakphu from Kalipokhari. Starting from Kalipokhari you will descend towards Bikhebhangang known as the valley of poison. Climb from Bikhebhanjang till Sandakphu - it is a vertical climbing of around 04 kms and this will take two to three hours to walk. Sandakphu (3636 meter) is 58 kms far from Darjeeling town and has very commanding views. At Sandakphu, in the forefront is an immense basin put in the middle of the mountains, the slopes out here are covered by silver fir trees & rhododendrons.

Day 07/ Sandakphu-Phalut

Start trek from Sandakphu to Phalut located on an altitude of 3600 meters. Phalut is one of the loftiest peaks in the Range of Singalila which is located 80 kms away. The route from Sandakphu till Phalut is the most magnificent of this trek. The burned silver fir jungle of this area contributes a lot to make the most stunning panorama. During the four hours trek from Sandakphu to Phalut, you will get to see a stone house with roof’s blown at the top of a tiny edge. This place is called as Sabarkum and is located 14 kms away from Sandakphu. Stay overnight at Phalut.

Day 08/ Phalut-Ramam

Today, trek from Phalut to Ramam. Starting from Phalut, the track goes down by the virgin jungle covering pines, chestnut & hemlock until the path arrives near two main streams known as Gorkhey Khola. Gorkhey Khola is a picturesque place. You may enjoy here the bath and have lunch. Post lunch trek to Ramam Trekker’s Hut via Samandin. The distance from Phalut to Ramam is 15 kms and this trek takes approx 05 hours.

Day 09/ Ramam-Rimbik

In the morning resume the trekking from Ramam to Rimbik. During the trek for first 09 kms the road is mostly level and goes down again till Sirikhola.  Arrive at Rimbik and stay at Trekker’s Hut in Rimbik.

Day 10/ Rimbik-Darjeeling (75 KMS/ 04 HRS)

After having breakfast, you will be transferred to Darjeeling. Arrive at Darjeeling, check in to the hotel. Rest of the time is kept free at Darjeeling. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 11/ Darjeeling-Bagdogra-Delhi/ Kolkata

Today you will be transferred to Bagdogra airport to catch the flight back to Delhi/ Kolkata. Arrive at Delhi/ Kolkata airport, transfer to the hotel. Rest of the time is kept free at your discretions. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 12/ Delhi/ Kolkata-Departure

At appropriate time, you will be transferred to the international airport to embark the flight back to the onward destination. The tour will culminate here.
